Day 2 in Piedmont (Giacosa, Conterno, & Cavallotto) (Piedmont, Italy): Light pink/orange hue in the glass - very beautiful color. Aromas had strawberries and herbs with some spices, too. The palate had medium acidity with tart strawberries, some currants, & cherries. We tasted this at Cavallotto and took the rest of the bottle home - it was great on the deck. Very refreshing.

Drank at the winery - - Almost rose in color, this has a very inteteresting flavor profile (it is a white wine made from pinot noir grapes). May have been the uniqueness of the wine coupled with the gorgeous setting, but we really liked this.

Tasted blind. Purportedly a white wine but the pale salmon color called the claim into question. Ripe strawberries and cherries with accents of barnyard and minerals. Acidity and fruit in good harmony on the palate. The finish is perfumed and very persistent. Enjoyed with grilled octopus. Reminded me of a Sancerre rosé so called that.
