Mixed Bag at Irene's (Irene's House, St. Paul): Light medium ruby color. PNP, drank a glass over an hour. Cherry, dried earth, good minerality, hi-toned palate with some volatility, dried berries, smooth texture, a touch of shellac.

Light medium red, translucent color. PNP, drank a couple glasses over 90 minutes. Looking back at my previous notes, I find myself writing almost identical descriptors on this wine again. This is really quite mesmerizing for its purity and feminine elegance. The nose is captivating with Christmas spices, strawberry, dried earth, soil and dried herbs laced with scents of red roses. The palate is so refined, a weightless medium body with plenty of depth, pretty red berry fruit, ultra-fine tannins, dried herbs, earth and a crystalline purity. I love this, and it almost makes me want to make out loud comparisons to that R guy from Burgundy, but I don't dare. Makes me really want to crack a '15 Maresh Maresh Vineyard now.

Red fruit moving quickly into a deep, dense core with earth and slight tertiary notes. Finishes medium with a lick of acidity and smooth tannin. Deeper and bass-ier than many 15s which were blown out, this was a surprise and really tasty.

Wine had lots of depth with fruit, a little damp earth and smoke. This is the second bottle from this producer and both have been great.

I didn't take note, but this had lots of red cherry fruit and was very expressive. Great QPR.
