Youthful blend of Merlot and Cabernet. Powerful on the nose, tannins and acid support the rich fruit, should develop into a beautiful left bank. Pessac-Leognan over delivers on value.

Decanter Fine Wine Encounter (The Landmark, London): Slightly gamey, plummy, meaty, smidge of blackcurrant, muted sweet spice. Juicy, savoury, plum, chalky tannins are a little too much for the fruit. Time?

Dinner at Upavon. Drank in Gabriel Standart. Appearance is clear, deep intensity, ruby colour. Legs. Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of blackcurrant, mint, and some metal. Developing. On the palate, dry, medium+ to high acidity, high alcohol (14.5%), good fine rounded high tannins, proper full body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of blackcurrant, plump black fruit - blackberry, black cherry, tobacco tar, fine spice, roasted coffee-bean. Long finish. Good quality. Power and ripeness. Better in a few more years.

Inky and dark ruby. Cassis and dried flowers on the nose. Velvety tannins, delicious sweet but savoury red fruits (pomegranates and sour cherry), freshness in spades, perfectly balanced with a rising and almost pixellated finish. Drinking very well already. Another lovely 2016. BTG from Zalto Bordeaux - which disappeared quickly!
