Incredibly austere. Like most German Riesling, it seems you have to truly understand it to fully appreciate it.
Decanted for an hour, yet was so closed off its reductive gunflint and wet rock aromas overwhelmed the nose. The palate was focused and linear but the acid was so rippingly high it was, sadly, out of balance. This is a leaner style, mostly green fruit, citrus, white flowers, with powerful minerality. After about three hours, the wine at probably 13-14 degrees it opened up, though it was still lacking in aromatic intensity. This is a very dry style with impressive precision and focus, but honestly could have benefitted from just a touch of RS to soften out that acid.

Light to medium aromas of wet stone and minerals, accompanied by subtle green apple, and even more subtle ripe lemon. A more intense palate with flavours of nectarine, cloves, yellow flowers, and citrus. A fruity palate. Decent finish. Needs to be served at the right temperature; when too chilled it’s flavourless. Dry.

Wine of the tasting for me. Riper style on nose and palate, with richness of fruit very well matched with acidity. The finish is long and mouth-watering. Delicious wine.

This has a stronger acidic backbone than most dry riesling I have tried, very tart yet easy to drink.
