Christmas eve pairing with a beef stew. I bought this a few years ago out of curiosity (the DRC situation) and the decent reviews here, especially for a 2004. It was a good bet. Deep aromas and a nice, lengthy finish - it developed some subtle complexities over the evening. My hunch is that this is at peak. The 2006 was better but this was pretty compelling.

Everything about this wine was just right. Bright pure mid-red colour. Forward clean red fruit with just touch earthy and leather note; the fruit dominates in its purity. Lingering finish. Time to drink up. I do not see this getting any better. It does not need to.

This is drinking beautifully now. It is not a heavyweight wine but it has a lovely ethereal quality for a medium weight wine. Probably at it's peak now but will last years

delicately perfumed corton which is performing really well now. not a heavyweight but deliciously soft and feminine with a lingering finish. probably at its peak now but will last a good few years yet

Cherry fruit, hint of leather and stem. There is quite pure Pinot fruit along with leaves and a sexy, smooth texture. Long finish in the mouth, but does not take long to finish the bottle. Hah!

(Prince Florent de Merode Corton-Bressandes) Intriguing cherry creme brulee and sous bois nose; light bodied but complex, earthy, sous bois and red fruit palate with good acidity and hints of lime; medium-plus finish
