no amount of air and decanting seemed to be able to shake the reduction that permeated from the nose. Luckily the palate didn’t have the same issue. Still relatively structured and tannic it showed the vintage (and normally I feel liger reignot tends to be more restrained than the other bottlings). But material wise, there’s a lot of chunky dark concentrated fruit that’s outlined by that coarse tannin. A little vegetation in the finish but generally a long sappy mouthfeel.
I would recommend not touching these for awhile to allow the structure to soften and let the fruit shine

Intense nose of Asian spice, menthol, pine needles and dark fruits. It is rich and sappy with great build and texture. It has outstanding length of flavour.

Fairly closed, and not under the best circumstances as a result. However this showed a bit riper than the 12’, and more alcohol forward. A shame as I recall this being delicious and floral earlier in the year, but tonight the tomato leaf and alcohol is slightly more prominent. Even if not the best timing, still a treat to try this twice in a season, and in a lineup with the 02, 07, and 12 no less, though this 16’ was showing much more open and distinctive back in February. Hold until 2028 if the 07’ is any indication.

Amazing nose of spice and blue fruit. Incredible depth and balance. Exactly what you want from Liger Belair.

Aromatics quite shut, but palate is terrific. Sweetness, purity and precision in a single package. (365/2639)
