For being the "second wine of Merus," this one isn't bad. Not a show stopper, but it did go well with spicy Barramundi and chickpea orzo pasta (say whaaat?). We were trying to open a white wine, but it was just a cabernet kind of day. This is a medium-to-full bodied wine. Youthful blackberry and black cherry fruit. A little bit of roasted pecan and iodine in the front and middle. Finishes with a youthful tannin which is still rather stiff after 2 hours of being open. Not sure that this one was really ready to go yet, but the youthfulness of this one really went with the food. This one will CERTAINLY develop over the next 5-7 years and I feel the optimal drinking for this one is 2023-2027. Have no fear holding on to this one until 2029 if cellared correctly.

Still a little young. Should improve with age. Less interesting than the 2012, but may improve with age. Still pleasant to drink. We tasted side-by-side with the 2012.
