  • Shiraz shootout - Group #4. Medium light red color with some lightening. Forward aromas of nice red fruit with telltale banan/bubblegum. Rich balanced meduim bodied red fruit and a touch of cassis. Some noticeable acidity, but very nice. 12/04

  • A nose of cloves, spice & leather followed the light brick appearance of this wine. Cellared for the best part of 15 years in fairly indifferent circumstances (very high shoulder), it was showing a hint of that varnishy volatility, with the tannins almost completely subsided. The primary fruit is gone, needless to say, but this wine remains beautifully even on the palate – this easily makes up for the lack of strong fruit flavours. A wine all about structure, and better than I’d expected it to be. I imagine wines well cellared would be very good indeed.
