We are big fans of Caymus Zinfandel. I sorted our Cellar by drinking window and, come 2022, this 2016 popped up. I imagine we must of saved this to see how it would age, but I decided to open it up. I saw another review that said the reader preferred the Caymus Zin at a younger age. I don't know if I would go that far. The 2016 tasted fine, and, in fact, without a whole lot of change. But, I would say is that this is not an age worthy wine. Again, we always buy and enjoy the Caymus Zinfandel, no matter or perhaps because of its difference to other California Zinfandel's. However, for this wine, it does make sense to follow the wine's aging guideline.

Mellow berries on the nose, very sweet and jammy. Been a few years since I opened my last bottle of this vintage, I think I prefer this Zin a little younger while it still has some character and a little more bite to it.

Very typical caymus — fruite forward and jammy. Drinking very well.

Fruit forward, decanted for 30 mins could use another few years in the cellar
