Delicious wine! 62% CabSav, zero CabFra (but a good dash of PV). Garnet colour, nose mostly tertiary at first: old library books, leather & balsamico. Palate is showing much more primary fruit with a sensational structural balance. Devine tannins supporting ling finish .

Dinner at Pompette (Chicago, IL): Truth be told, a pretty challenging wine for me. The nose shows lots of menthol (with a slight Mayacamas hat-tip), and not too much fruit; it's pretty aromatic though. The palate is where I find the difficulty; this is very gamey with a bit too much funk and not enough fruit to clear away all those weird nodes. Slightly thin with high acids as well; I could definitely see this wine being quite compelling in certain vintages, but this bottle didn't do it for me.

Lots of complexity. Soft to moderate tannins. Long finish. Flavors evolved over time. Bouquet was complex, licorice, always a favorite to encounter, mint, blackberries, cedar and a bit of tobacco. First taste was very strong cherry, which later smoothed out. Still hints of blackberry fruit. Lots of life left in this vintage. Looking forward to drinking this for another couple of years.

Deeply coloured. Red fruits with mulberry and tobacco leaf complexity. Bright and zesty. Smooth structure, refined and a lingering fruit sweet finish. Time ahead.
