Young yet, with more than a whiff of band-aid /brett funk, but it resolves relatively quickly. Ample black fruit, with pepper notes and good acidity to keep it all in balance. Lovely. Bigger bones than some of his wines (see, e.g., Wind Gap), but that's to the good in my book. Mine also has a back label referencing 2014, but i shouldn't let the ex-law review editor in me take over enjoying delicious juice.

Is this the anti-Pax? It’s not an overdone caricature, but it has a richness that feels like someone else made the wine. Maybe it’s all about the site, but I am not opening a Majik Vineyard to go alongside it right now. Once I get past the surprising level of supple fruit there is structure from both acid and tannin. I have one more bottle, and I hope that I can find a way to keep my hands off it for a very, very long time. I love the pleasure the wine gives now, but I really want to see what happens when this get 10-15 years on it.

I think this has hit its drinking window. Deep full-bodied great fruit.

A nice deviation from Carlisle and Bedrock Syrahs, great balance of fruit and structure, disappeared quickly
