  • The color presents with a medium(+) ruby. Some minor garnet flecks are noticeable, but not dominating. The nose is definitely intense. I smell lots of alcohol right off the bat. I believe it will blow off, but in the future I would decant. After the first smell I did opt to put the bottle in the fridge to cool. I think a slight chill will help soften the alcohol burn and bring the fruit forward. Tomato leaf, currant, and black cherry on the nose. Some minor plum notes come in to play but not much else. Great full body, biting acidity and smooth tannins. I do get a lot of burn from the alcohol on this guy. Most of the aromatics mirror the palate aside from the dark cocoa and leather I’m picking up. This is either a long sipper or it needs some red meat to loosen up the tannins and smooth out the acidity. Bought this through a tasting with the winegrower. Very pleasant man who had loads of great things to teach me about Australian reds. Very pleased with the guy and i hope the other three bottles are just as good.

    Cheers!!
