Now, this was the third bottle in recent weeks. Based on previous bottles, i was hesitant to adjust the rating, also i so much liked it recently. But then, confident, i pitched it against agains some Pommard and echezeaux from the same year. And it lost out dramatically. Though I think it is not the comparison that made it go down, but a genuine aging problem with this particular wine. It became hollow, bitter, one bottle defaulted, and thin. Not all related to cork, but rather ill handled overripeness. Let’s see, i will leave some bottles for the coming years …

Now this falls into place. Moving away from the German Pinot stereotype of sweet and oaky juice, this now evolves into some serious burgundy contender. Minerality, balance, poise and spicyness, accompanied by some delicate tertiary notes coming through. And boy what a nose! Very much brilliant and a hidden gem.
