50 + Kleur: 5 + Aroma / bouquet: 11 + Smaak / Afdronk: 16 + Algemeen / potentieel: 8 = 90/100

Colour: Ruby red with a light edge. Aroma / bouquet: Semi-closed, just like five years ago. A somewhat dark aroma in which laurel and cloves predominate. Taste / Aftertaste: Pleasant fresh start. Tough, somewhat angular wine with an overly emphatic note of laurel leaves in my opinion. Pronounced tannins. Although according to RP the wine is at the end of its development horizon, no trace of tertiary aromas is discernible. Long finish. General / potential: The 2014 Ao Yun is far from French, but it also lacks the polish of New World Bordeaux blends. If the wine is comparable, it is most likely with Bordeaux blends from Chile or Argentina (in which I often recognize laurel). It is a pity that this wine - without a striking extraction - does not really become tertiary. A matter of time? We will experience it with the remaining bottles. 50 + Colour: 5 + Aroma / bouquet: 11 + Taste / Aftertaste: 16 + General / potential: 8 = 90/100

  • (SYP) PNP. Small glass
A classic nose of earth, dark plums, blackberries and graphite. Good structure and savouriness. 92

  • Tasted after the bottle has been opened for three days. Pleasant cab with good acidity, some peppery nose, not overly done. 90-91

  • A bit of pyrazines on the nose. 15% alcohol but one does not feel it is too hot。Made closer to the old world style. A well made wine that blew my scepticism away.

  • Deep ruby, and significant glass stain. Pronounced aromas of plum, roast pork, meat stew, and cordyceps. Quite a good tannic bite, whilst acids still tart, and flavours of sour cherry, dried grass, Chinese herbs, and paprika. Medium length and complexity. Interesting, but would have expected more quality and complexity given its high price point
