  • Prior bottle was almost exactly a year ago and this wine remains in a very good spot, having held up quite well. Red cherry, earth and spices on a very classic nose. Close to medium bodied with dark red cherry, red berries and some black cherry hints in the background. Tart red cherry, fine grained tannins and minerals on the back and through the finish. Some of the blackfruit notes were more highlights in this bottle as opposed to the last one as the wine is clearly trending in a red cherry-focused direction. That said, complexity remains good and the wine is still drinking quite well. I'd drink over the next 18-24 months to enjoy this wine in its current, high stage.

  • Has matured very nicely! Drinking near its peak? Seems like it will hold on for a while. Rich, dark nose: blackberry, hint of forest and spice. on the palate, full flavors of raspberry (red and black) and candied fruit (borderline sweet though it isn't really sweet) with very good structure and plenty of well-controlled tannins. Only a hint of green pepper, if you look for it. Medium to long finish.

  • Prior bottle was 16 months ago and this wine remains in a good drinking window. Red cherry, spices and light earth notes on the nose. Medium bodied with red cherry upfront, deepening to black cherry through the middle. Tart red and black cherry, minerals and a balanced mix of tannins and acidity on the backside provide structure and contrast. The integration between the mid-body fruit and backside structure has improved, such that both of those elements are now the better for it. Given how well this is showing, I may open my next bottle as soon as November 2022.

  • PnP. Pleasant nose but odd on the palate, esp. the finish. Not bad, just unusual. Tannins have smoothed out and the nose has typical vegetal notes and hints of dark fruit, nice. Palate seems disjoined, smooth, viscous body with more vegetal notes (not much green pepper, just a bit), not bad but the finish has a bit funk (?) to go with the vegetal notes. Seems like it hasn't come together: the question is will it get better? I would hope so!
