Taste Top Pick Wines for July (San Diego Wine Co.): 32% Merlot, 24% C.S., 18% Syrah, 14% C.F., 8% Malbec, & 4% Petit Verdot; "...16 mos in contact with oak..."; ABV 14.0 % • TA 0.62 g/100ml • pH 3.82.
Gold Medal - '17 Seattle Wine Awards Silver Medal - '18 S.F. Chronicle Wine Comp @ $20 Wine of the Week & Outstanding! rating - Great Northwest Wine, 9/5/17 Bronze Medal - '17 L.A. International Wine Competition
P: Med, poss LM, body; RNDISH entry with nice, ALMOST swtish frt met by puckerish astringency which only somewhat mitigates by the LONG, pleasant, bitterSWT choc (?) finish. NEEDS through '19, then for for 3+ yrs more. My VG+, poss EXC-, more IF one focuses upon the QPR of this vendor's $11.99, which is roughly $1 < the next lowest of wine-searcher's skewed entries.]
Note: For whatever reason, I found this bottle considerably better than the one I tasted on 3/10/2018.

N: Closed; berries, earth, some smoke?
P: LM body; ALMOST swtish frt met by some puckerish astringency which transitions into a LONG (albeit very slightly faint) finish with a spiciness & very, VERY slight touch of bitterness (from tannins?). My G+/VG-. For now & through '19. [This vendor's $11.99 is roughly $1 < than the only other currently listed source on wine-searcher.]

A slight hint of sweetness, some vanilla, and we both thought it was very slightly carbonated
