AWE Piedmont tasting. Single blind. Drank in Grassl Cru. 2 pours 4 hours apart. Appearance is clear, pale intensity, ruby colour with wide garnet rim. Legs. Nose medium+ intensity, with aromas of mushrooms, earth, soy, ripe red cherries, leather, spice, floral rose petals, iron minerality and salinity. Developed. On the palate, dry, juicy high acidity, medium+ alcohol (14%), firm integrating high tannins, full body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of ferrous iron, savoury earth. spice, soy umami, salt, fine leather, ripe red cherries, red plums, mushrooms. Very fine long finish. Very good quality. Elegant La Morra! Certainly one of the most traditional and complex I have had so far. At peak for me. Concrete tanks and large French oak used. From the Rocche dell'Annunziata cru in the commune of La Morra.

Lovely, lifted nose of violet candy, cherry, tar, orange peel. Medium bodied. Plenty of acid, lots of tannin, neither of which stick out. Long and complex. In short, classic Nebbiolo. (I feel like there has been some bottle variation, though it’s been a while. In any case, this bottle was graceful and lovely.) great now, will probably be so for a good while, but no need to wait.

4/5 - Opened and decanted about an hour and drank over the next three, very aromatc, lovely floral notes, dark brick colour, little settiment, still showing a strong tannic backbone, with alcohol flavours still present.
Didn't get the chance to fully take notes.
Based on this I think the 2000 can sit for a few more years.

Sour cherry notes. Strong finish and big tannins. Held up really well after 21 years.
