I can't say this has evolved significantly since my last bottle, but my god it's gorgeous. Feels older than it is, but the cherry and prune fruit is so glossy and polished you get a bit lost in it. Leather bound books and hints of wild mushrooms are in a bit more evidence here. Tannins and acidity very much in control. Like the other Settimos I've had, there was a massive sediment.

Very nice traditional barolo. Resolved, fruit-driven tannins, and no hint of oak. Fabulous nose of tar, roses, soy, and mushroom. Vibrant black cherry fruit, with leather, gravel, and tobacco. Balanced acidity and a moderate finish. Lovely, old-school nebbiolo, drinking well.

I made the mistake of sampling this from Coravin - you have to up end the bottle, disrupting the sediment and my goodness, there is half a bottle of sand in this wine. Muddiness aside (my fault), it has an orange/brown colour and looks properly - and smells and tastes - old (older maybe than it is). Almost a waste of time to describe the nose as it changes with every smell - prune, wet earth, cherry, violet, leather...palate still reasonably fresh, finishes very dry.
