Pretty interesting Arbois Vin Jaune. Profound sherry and nuts character. On the palate it was pleasantly dry with a long after taste. Fun wine to try but not my 'cup of tea'.

First vin jaune for me. The smell reminds me of Marsala, though more balanced: cedar nuts, fried mushroom, fatty pan, warm pastry. The more attention you pay to the nose, the more rewarding it is: quick sniffs only give mushroom. Deeper, more paced ones evoke petrol, cape gooseberry, confiture. On the palate it’s quite acidic, though it seems like there is some sugar to balance it. Medium body. Apple, lemon, and the mushroom on the long finish with green apple. 8/18

Percee du Vin Jaune du Zoom 2022. Sharper and way more cheese on the nose vs the Rolet Cotes du Jura VJ, literally smells like comte rind and walnut, but piercing. More lactic tang on the palate, definitely the rounder than the CdJ but still some bright meyer lemon to finish, very savory.

By the glass at Noble Rot in Wellington. Typical honeyed, nutty, light Madras curry and mixed orchard fruit aromas; aromatic, attractive. On the palate relatively citrusy, clean and linear, with a nice citrus pith/peel element and ample cleansing acidity. Comes across as young and yet to attain much layered depth, but nonetheless enjoyable how it is in this phase.
Worked well with beef tartare.

Most unusual wine I've tasted. Nutty, oxidized taste with hint of ;mushrooms. Turmeric in the finish. Plenty of acidity. Very dry with medium body.
