  • Honey, ripe apricot, yellow peach, and pear, lemontini, and the slightest hint of wet limestone. Wins all of its points for balance and purity, but every inch of this wine is wholly encompassed with a sweet, saccharine-laced element that becomes the slightest bit cloying at times.

It’s certainly not heavy or syrupy in any way (hence its notable balance and even-keeled delivery), but consumers should certainly be prepared for that heightened Auslese profile. Finishes as it starts, with sweet honey and peach notes dominating the back end.

If you’re looking for the sweeter side of things, this is a worthy contender. If you’re wanting more cut and acid to provide extra lift and energy, you might want to venture elsewhere. The sweetness slightly muddles the delineation of flavors as they move across the palate. For me, this was even too sweet for spicy fare and strong cheeses. I wanted a bit more frame, grip, and speed.

Drinks fine now and stands to be stable for a number of years to come. Drink or hold with confidence.

  • Numbers – 95g/L RS. Lovely balanced wine with good persistence. Sweet citrus and a touch of caramalised apples. Persistent on the palate.
