At first this wine is very closed, but opens up nicely with a few hours in the glass (or decanter). The nose is dominated by peppers and quite a bit of spice and cedar to go along with it. There's also a big chunk of cherry, but it plays second fiddle to the pepper. Medium to full bodied, with a very nice punch of habanero pepper. The pepper is actually quite odd and interesting, and as I splash it around my mouth it actually FEELS spicy, like the pepper is in my mouth. Finishes only slightly dry, with a dose of woods and quite a bit of dark fruit. This is a lush, full bodied wine, but not overly complex. I definitely enjoy it, and if it had the complexity to match the lushness it'd be a 90+ point wine. But since there isn't a whole lot going on, I must ding it. What is going on is very tasty, though.

Bright cherry fruit explodes from the glass. This wine has a lot of acidity but it’s so easy on your mouth. It’s so light on your palate but still has nice body.

Full bodied, strong tannins, hints of menthol and eucalyptus, spice, plum. Long finish. Drinking well.

Dark fruit well knit. Spice and earthy undertone. Less fruit forward than most dolcettos. Smooth finish but not long.
