One of my best white wine experiences. Perfect balance, still mineral, mild citrus, yellow apple, but also a wonderful petroleum on the nose. In the mouth some grapefruit, bee wax and great texture. Great window but can do more of course. Luckily I have another bottle : )

Terroir-istes International - Germany, Riesling & Weiss Burgunder (Overgaauw Wine Estate): (Tasted Blind): A mid-green to lemon colour in the glass. Intense, fresh, vibrant and lifted, the nose is filled with lime, white to yellow flowers, sea breezes, apples and jasmine. Lovely perfume, the wine enters with a streak of razor-sharp acidity, with a beautiful brightness and purity yet with a more medium+ body that supported plenty of apple flesh, some terpenes (suggesting a warmer spot) and white peach. I also picked up a faint whiff of oak?! Very much a crunchy wine; the palate shape is linear and long on the finish. There is a slaty textural component, and the wine closes with subtle notes of honeycomb, sea salt and desiccated almonds. Perhaps it is slightly one-dimensional in approach I think it has the potential to develop and become more complex. 11.5%; RS:5.6; TA: 7.7

Opened two bottles over a few days and each time consistently a stand-out. One of the best german Rieslings of the Christmas days. Coming in at a vert moderat 11.5% in alcohol this is a pleasantly light yet aromatic glass that still has a lot of pressure, white peaches and melt proving a great aperitif or match for classic (salty) German cuisine (like salzkuchen / mautaschen or others). Fantastic stuff.

Open House at Georg Breuer (Rudesheim): {cork, 11.5%, €38, AP 5.17} There are some restrained custard-apple flavours here, but this is mostly about the texture. Minerals and slate, almost with a red hint, like there was pinot juice here or something. Still rather closed; it has a dense medium/full body. The first pour was from a bottle open a week and deemed marginally sub-par; the difference in freshness was obvious from a freshly opened example. Suggests a long cellaring life, obviously.
