  • This is just my #6 Cote Rotie. No surprise, because these wines are expensive, but worth every penny. First several sniffs and several sips
weren't encouraging. I would describe the impression as... muddy ( don't ask me about specifics 🙄, just like don't ask about details about Charlie Parker - The Bird masterpiece) I think I went to far... sorry

Anyway- 3rd glass and the wine is masterpiece in my mouth. First of all balance, harmony and the same time- jazz! With each sip you hear different parts of the same melody
Forget about the smell ( it's the reason for 96 points and not for pure 100)
Taste is mixture of red fruits, black fruits, coffee, black and milk chocolate, all kinds of spices( but perfectly play the same melody).
    Endless bravado finish with
spice , red fruits, tobacco, chocolate, minerals.
Grippy tannins and in contrast soft, but vivid acidity.
I omitted the description of aromas , but it doesn't mean they are just OK.
On the contrary, they are very good, but the taste is much better than them.
Wet earth, forest, minerals, red cherry, blackberry, plum, anise, mint. Crazy mix, isn't? Very well defined and easy to describe them (and I like it this way)
The longer I drink this wine the sweeter it becomes ( in a positive sense).
2015 got 97 points according to the WA Vintage.Extraordinary. Still tannic, youthful or slow to mature.
    Wine?
    RP - 95
    WS - 95

  • This was obviously fairly young but started to open up after being open for about 4 hours.

If I had more I’d probably wait another 3-5 years to open.

This struck almost more like a Hermitage than a Cote Rotie but this might be down to the warmer vintage as I’ve not yet drank many of my 2015’s.

Overall I liked it but it wasn’t quite the right time for this bottle just yet.
