Background of fruit blossoms and orchid. Some toasted almond. Welterweight viscosity. Appealing tannins (chewing on my catcher's mitt?). The spice stands out for me on this one, garam-masala esque- coriander, cardamom, nutmeg. A little allspice., faint candied orange- a lot going on: my kinda wine. Had on my birthday with warm goat cheese, arugula, walnuts & bruschetta, TAMED the strong goat. Perfect combo.

Very interesting white with a viscous mouth feel, combined with an earthy palate. Not a lot of fruit, just a depth and complexity of flavors that are hard to describe. A hint of flowers, stone (and stone fruit!), and leather. Great with warmed, herbed oysters and a phyllo wrapped mushroom dish with a very earthy brown suace.

Vineyard Gate Retail Tasting (Millbrae, CA): Pretty nose of flowers mixed with minerality and perhaps a little honeyed. Pleasant, but unremarkable palate of white fruits. Finish is a bit harsh and bitter without much accompanying complexity. Note to others: I'm very new to tasting white CdP. Perhaps this is a bit young?

Great "workmanlike" CdP Blanc, fresh and a touch spicy, great food wine.

2007 France Trip - Beaucastel, Ferrand, Vielle Julienne, Grand Veneur (Southern Rhone): 40% Grenache blanc, 30% Clairette, 30% Rousanne. Initially reticent nose. Spicy white flowers and pears, which bright clean acidity. Round and supple in the mouth.
