A really great bottle from a producer I'd never heard of but will be checking out, because this is downright burgundian Barolo. Swirling complex aromatics of rose and rosemary and light spices (ginger?) leading via a gorgeous mid-weight mouthfeel to an ending of dark cherries, raspberries and porcini, all lifted by an ample amount of acid. Heck.

Holy shit, the best '98 Barolo I've had! Just seamless, still firm but manageable tannin, gorgeous fruit and acidity, a real treat and surprisingly a steal.

Good showing at wine group dinner at Portofino last night. Wine went especially well with the osso buuco and veal scallopini dishes. Most of the group eventually settled on it being a barolo

Italians at Momo's: Blind Red 6 - Dense smelling. Inky. Touch of smoky earth. Somewhat chewey cotton tannins. This reminded me of Valpolicella more than anything. Pretty good though. 13.5% ABV.

Sweet fruit intermingled with dry tannins. I was impressed with this basic Barolo as we enjoyed it with risotto with wild mushrooms and ground beef.
