An Evening in Piemonte: Westchester Wine School: Drank at WWS Piedmonte tasting. Fairly dark (for a barolo) crimson color, appearing much more youthful than expected. Slight bricking at the edges. On the nose, floral, some leather, some tobacco. Very pleasant. On the palate, lots of eucalyptus or menthol, leather, tobacco and tar. Still plenty of fruit here--cherries & raspberries, along with somewhat resolved soft tannins. Subtle, very pretty, well-balanced & complex pour & definitely the WOTN. The superb condition of this wine greatly exceeded my expectations & all very much enjoyed it. Wonderful balance between the earthy & still copious fruit level here. Great bottle! Decant in the future before pouring.
