9th of 12, opened 2 hours, perfect cork and level, on a par with bottle noted in Oct 16 and much better than Nov 19 bottle, as ever in this vintage it's about whether there is enough fruit left to balance acidity and tannins of vintage.....a good one here, fruit tending to plum, no rush on this showing. F (17.5).

8th of 12, pnp, perfect cork and level, much more attractive on nose than palate, just too angular and lean and mean without the generosity of fruit to compensate the vintage's acidity, drink up as I can't see this improving. Still VG+ (16.5).

6th of 12, decanted 20 minutes, perfect cork and level, browning and lightening mid red; classy and complex bouquet, red fruit driven, sous bois, touch of meat and spice; medium bodied, attractive flavour profile, long and persistent, nice acid lift, just lacking a bit of the roundness and concentration of the Charmes-Chambertin of last week, so just a tad pinched and austere, no rush needed to drink. F nevertheless (17.5).

Decent fill but a bit cloudy in appearance as it splashed into the decanter. A bit worried until I get my first whiff. Ahhh, now this is why we love chambolle musigny. Just a beautiful, sensual perfume. I believe this is my first Combe d'Orveau, but we are certainly in chambolle land. It had been a great day on a number of fronts, and I really wanted this to be a spectacular bottle, paired with a fairly simple grilled chicken and peppers. Alas it was not to be, as the mouth just could not live up to the nose. Red fruits (raspberry) and wet hay. Nicely balanced and integrated, with a soft mouthfeel, but not much complexity. Did not really change over the course of 2-3 hours. Not really in decline, but I suspect well into middle age. Drink up.
