1st of 3. I'm hoping this is just not ready, but in any case it didn't show nearly as well as the '16 Gouges Porrets that I had last night. This was a bit thin and tart for my taste. The tannins are firm and need time. The nose is fairly closed. I plan to wait a decade or so before trying another.

Not super impressed with this one given the region and climat. A little flat on the nose after settling down. A decent bouquet of floral elements and earthiness. A little too earthy on the nose for me, but then again it is nuit st georges. Might be a little harsh on this wine, but I just get a little too much acidity and earth, like some mid range morey st denis. Was looking forward to opening this and not super impressed. I coravin'd the first glass. For the remaining bottle, I will decant for a couple hours and review again.

Nose has cherries, raspberries, driving rocky minerality, and deep herbaceous notes with clear oak that sort of sticks out. Palate is similar. Fresh, beautiful red fruit and lithe acidity to complement rock and spicy herbal flavors. Again, you feel the oak.
Very divided on this. One the one hand, you have beautiful fruit and complexity. On the other, the oak is just so imposing. Not well-integrated at this point. I wish there were less. Otherwise, it would be great. Maybe give it some time. I think I opened this one a little too early.

I concured with other's comment, it was too early to drink up, but it was easier than the other 2016 Montille's volnay 1er Cru, and more enjoyment.
