Despite the Gallo connection this is a more than drinkable wine with good balance and personality and a very affordable price. Had by the glass at a pizza place, $8 a glass. Wine was better than the pizza.

A pleasant surprise! I've walked around this wine many a time thinking it was likely overpriced, mass produced, plunk with a cutesy name & label. In reality its a fairly well made, balanced example of classic Chianti. This isn't the second coming of Felsina Classico but it drank pretty well for the $12.50 I paid for it "on sale" at Byerly's wine store. Nita was making Wild Boar Pappardelle and needed a chianti for cooking so I snuck a taste of some of the left over wine. Semi translucent ruby red Cherry, mineral, earth, herbs on a fresh lifted frame. Tannins polished and the wine elegant and relatively weightless. Alc a reasonable 13%. You could do much worse for cooking wine or even everyday house red.
