Fantastic QPR. Deep garnet. Savory and blackberry/dark plum notes on the nose, with medium plus body, more fruit forward but with enough depth for interest.

Okhuysen tasting October 2019: the bouquet is classic, even severe with the good bitters from the aftertaste also in the start. This well made wine asks your attention.

This opaque crimson wine (a 50/50 blend of Grenache and Syrah) brims with smoked meat, blackberries, blueberries, dark plums, licorice and lavender. Full-bodied, fresh, softly oaked and with medium rustic tannins, it is a ripe offering yet its alcohol (14.5%) is quite tame. The middle palate is beautifully dense and the finish is long, albeit a bit astringent and with a tolerable whiff of brett. Give this some additional cellar time and then enjoy it over the ensuing five years. It may merit a higher score in the future. Drink 2021-2026.

Elegant old world essence. Tannins perfectly appropriate to the weight of the wine, which is medium in style. Flavorful with slight citrus and smoke notes overlaying a rich wine base robed in chocolate.
There are aromas and flavors that connote “greenness”, very present and pleasant.
Overall, an enjoyable wine, made more so by the value at $18 USD

Good, very solid, but not so exiting.
