CNY drinks (Casa Esperanza): Double decanted and left for an hour, this was absolutely lovely and drinking wonderfully well. It had a really pretty nose, with classic Gevrey notes of red cherries, mineral and earth, garlanded with a little kiss of spice and florals. With time, some ferrous metal and orange peel started coming out as well. The palate was just a little tight at first, but opened up very nicely with fresh, well-cut notes of red cherries and juicy strawberries laced with a touch of rose petals. Elegant, juicy, absolutely drinkable - this was all very pretty, delicious stuff. Good finish for a village too, with a trail of mineral and a little kiss of spice and florals drifting away on the back palate. A lovely, elegant, almost feminine Gevrey village, just starting to be opened for business.

A perfumed and intense nose of dark cherry with bright fruit and smooth tannins followed by a smooth finish. A quality and well balanced wine from a great wine maker.

Knightsbridge Annual Holiday Burgundy/Champagne Tasting and Sale (Northbrook, IL): Tasting, brief note. Impressive Villages level with intense black fruit and game, perhaps a bit of baby fat that will surely dissipate in another year. Good+ concentration .
