Quite a lot of fruit but also some oxidative notes of nuts and cheese making me think of older chablis. On the palate rhubarb and herbs mixed with ripe lemon. Lightweight and quite elegant but also has some raw rustic elements. Medium acidity and lenght. Very good in an unusual style.

As what you would expect from Pyramid Valley, this wine is quite unusual and of good quality. It is not as robust and buttery as many other new world Chardonnay (same for the top cuvee), but it is rather light with higher minerality and acidity. Much white fruits and quite prominent yeasty aromas.

Taste North Canterbury 2018 (Christchurch, New Zealand): Very good NZ Chardonnay, same price as the Kumeu River Estate and in the same ballpark, from a Marlborough vineyard managed by Dog Point. Big nose of butter and flint, some white flowers; palate is all honey, zesty citrus, peaches, vanilla ice-cream, and a long toffee finish.
