  • PnP and that does not really work with this wine. There is so much reduction/sulfur that is edges on rotten eggs. With 30-40m this blows off and you end up with an elegant chardonnay, with a good core of fruit, good acidity and lovely reduction

  • Tight, crystalline, with masses of concentrated energy and potential right now. This is seriously good stuff. Compact and expressive nose of lime, mandarin, celery, butter and toast. Opens with appealing reductive note and more delicate floral tones emerge with air. A sense of extraction on the palate, coiled pear and lemon, chalky and almost grippy, thrillingly sharp acidity. Given the opportunity to relax, soften and broaden this should be really really interesting in 5 years

  • Very much a winemaker made wine. With the trademark gunflint. And what seems a fair bit of skin contact, I’m not sure if that’s what gives it the green vegetal seam.

It’s good. Stylish. But I think past compliments from Jancis Robinson have been a bit too high.

    No need to cellar.

  • Intensity medium(+), (candied) lemon, apple, white peach, gun powder, fire stone, toast. Acidity medium(+). Finish medium(+).
Still beautiful and stable on day 2 and day 3; perhaps having overdone it somewhat on the sulfites (and hence, the gun powder)? However, quite enjoyable and good PQR.

  • [Tasted blind] I called Puligny Montrachet 2019 village from a good producer. Totally wrong, but a compliment to the wine, especially at €28/bottle. Medium+ intensity with a strong reductive note (which became a bit less overwhelming after 10-15 minutes), gun flint, herbs, lime, grapefruit, green apple, white peach, popcorn, toast. Medium+ acidity, medium+ finish

    A great glass!
