  • Really in a great spot right now. Dried apricots, some butterscotch, delicate toast on the finish.

  • Pop and pour. In the glass, cloudy pale golden-yellow. On the nose, high-toned lemon, honey, and a touch of petrol that feels more like a riesling note than a white Rhone note. On the palate, rich but not heavy, as other tasters have noted - more lemon and citrus fruits, paired to a slightly oily texture, with less funk than you might expect from a viognier-roussanne-marsanne blend with a few years in bottle. Really a nice change of pace.

  • At the risk of echoing the last note posted on this wine, I, too, really enjoyed it. While quite rich, it has tremendous acidity to balance it. Fantastic mouthfeel, without being even the slightest bit cloying which is a risk with so many viogniers. Even better after a few hours of air, with more complexity shining through, especially as it warmed up a bit. Beguiling (in a good way) in that every time I try to focus on one particular flavor/note I'm instantly drawn to the next... Hoping to find more bottles of this, as it sadly was my only one.

  • I really liked this wine, which continues a streak of very interesting whites released by this producer in recent years. This comes out of the bottle almost a sunflower yellow with a very nice weight - an early sign that it's going to be non-standard. The nose was fresh with notes of flowers, honey with just a hint of citrus. The mouth is much heavier and even better - cinnamon and baking spices with definite oak presence but well placed. Very long finish, upwards of 30 seconds. Drank over several nights, stayed fresh, a good sign. These guys think outside the box, this is another winner in my opinion.

  • (Tasted at the Sanguis Spring Pickup Party) Who the heck serves a white wine following a flight of robust reds? Sanguis does this routinely. And it works. This Marsanne/Roussanne/Viognier blend offers a mouth-filling and refreshing close to an outstanding tasting. Field flowers, chamomile, pineapple, sweet lemon and minerals flow gracefully over the palate. Plenty of stuffing to this one. Matthias and company continue to build strength upon strength.
