90-minute decant. Very very deep ruby magenta color. Blackberry, black cherry Fruit Roll-up, raspberry-filled donut, thyme, cinnamon roll, and subtle chocolate malt. Smooth, dry medium+ bodied palate, with silty acidity. Full, satiny, medium intensity tannins on the longish finish.
This is very integrated. Great fruit, but somewhat confectionary. The palate has very nice flavor. This is still really good, but peaked a year ago for my palate.
Two hour decant. Very deep dark intense ruby magenta color. Ripe blackberry, dark raspberry, blueberry, sesame seed, anise, and subtle cast iron skillet. Dry, plush palate, with good acidity. Firm, full tannins on the longish finish.
This has nice body and rich fruit. It might be going through some sort of transition, but drinking nicely nonetheless. I hope to wait a year before having my last bottle.
Four hour slow ox followed by a one hour decant. Deep dark ruby magenta color. Sautéed blueberry, blackberry, milk chocolate crisp, violet, walnut, and rosemary. Very smooth, dry palate. Firm, full tannins on the longish finish.
The nose is absolutely gorgeous. This is fully integrated and absolutely drinking in prime time. It was diminished just a touch by the ‘18 J.H. Wheeler Missouri Hopper CS we had before it. Shared both bottles with Mark1NPT, who had never tasted either one.

My note very similar to Andy's note from 4/22 in every respect with regard to the taste profile and the 'chalk'. Opened by my hosts Mr/Mrs Agelvis. A 4 hour slow ox followed by a 1 hour decant.
Deep purple in the glass with a nose of blueberry, blackberry, rosemary, chocolate, maybe some walnuts and sweet violets overriding everything. The palate has that sweet fruit and chalky minerality that Andy brings up along with the same odd note, maybe iron, maybe a touch of iodine(?) on the end of the palate. Long fruit finish with a hint of mushroom. This one is in a very good place. Very different than the JH Wheeler we started with but every bit as good in its own way.....

Two hour decant. Very deep dark vibrant magenta color. Blackberry, black cherry, plum, black walnut, black tea, Italian wedding cake, and subtle mushroom on the nose. There’s a bubble gum note that comes and goes. Super smooth, dry palate, with silty acidity. Firm tannins on the long finish.
Great texture and integration. So well made. It’s a great study. Drinking at its peak for my palate.
