Also drinking quite well and lucky since we almost found ourselves with two of the '64 barolo and always fun to have a bit of diversity. This was drinking quite nicely as well. Shows you that good barbaresco stands the test of time as well as the old barolos. Also looked like it had had a good decant before showing up at the restaurant. Again a bit of a floral side and some more old library to it.

This is really special. A pale cinnamon color in the glass, this started off kind of meaty and porky, but mellowed out after about an hour to reveal lovely sour cherry fruit accented by hints of dusty cigar box/tobacco, rose petals, woodsmoke, tamari and shiitake mushrooms. The palate retained its sweetness and clarity throughout the evening, and the wine never faded before the bottle was, alas, all gone. A terrific example of mature Barbaresco that's still a touch tannic, yet superbly balanced and very much still alive and kicking. Wish I had more.

Light ruby with brown edges. This wine was elegant with a mix of barnyard/strawberries and raspberries on the nose and sweet wild cherries on the palate.
