Needs air. Very shy until you give it some air. 30 mins to an hr. until it really develops. On the tart red fruit side this bottle was. Developed nicely after the oxygen. Make sure you have some fat to go along with this wine.

Drinking nicely here. Solid acidity and good fruit with secondary and tertiary notes on the Nies Andre back palate. I was afraid to decant, but I think it would’ve handled it, because the wine improved after 30 minutes of slow ox.

Decanted off the moderate-plus sediment and given monitored air time. In the glass brick red with some orange and tawny hues. Definitely showing the age in the appearance of this wine. On the nose this is somewhat reserved but has opened a little with air time. Aromas of dried rose petals and black tea mingle with notes of Autumn leaves, sous bois, forest floor, crushed walnut shell, dried red fruits, dried orange peel and notes of dusty leather and spice with a faint hint of menthol. On the palate this shows firm, full, chewy tannins alongside the high acidity. Flavors echo the nose with dried out flavors of rose petal, Oolong tea, goji, cranberry and orange peel that come with notes of earth, leather, spice, dried mushroom and tobacco. The finish is dry and savory.

Black tea and some nutmeg on the nose. This wine is dark and dirty. Has a peanut brittle thing going on here. A hint of truffle and earth. Leather and spice. This wine is still quite alive. But definitely trending to darker fruit and a darker presence. I think the best years are right upon us.

Had this with a duck- rustic with some pine needles on the nose, opened up a bit after decanting for about an hour.
