This is definitely a wine to hold in my opinion, because I have now had it in sips over four days and it’s only now opened up. It started up a tight, gunpowdery thing with a promising bouquet, but is now mellow, generously fruity and caressed by discreet oak. Treat it like a barolo. (90-93 p)

Much better than the 2016 vintage which I didn't find all that impressive. What I appreciate about Luke Lambert is that he's not trying to make wine that's a replica of Italy, but rather something that expresses Australian terroir. There's not a lot of winemaking technique here, just pure expression of fruit. Blind tasted this with a couple of Italians, they exclaimed ITALY straight away. Lots of beautiful fruit and florals on the nose, that follow on the palate as well. The acid here is bright and well-balanced with the alcohol. Unfortunately, the wine doesn't develop in the glass over a few hours of decanting and drinking, so if you expect complexity, look somewhere else. Worth the money? Maybe.

Seems to be a divider this wine. Some love it and some don't. I must confess it has failed to convince me yet. Even if I think this is better than -16. This is quite nice but for my money not great QPR. 90 maybe?

Bibendum Portfolio Tasting 2019: Smokey and wild with some meats and earth along with red cherry. Sweet edges on the palate but it is pulled back by structured tannins. Very good and hopefully 4-5 years would see it all fall into place.

Mornington & Yarra Valley Trip Jan 2018; 3/31/2021-4/2/2021: from barrel. Huge fruit concentrate, rose petal, black and red cherry fruit, aniseed, balance and power acid beautifully worked. Tannin enveloped in the wine. better.
