This is a super serious wine that seemed to be in a much more focused place than my last bottle a couple years ago. I don’t have a ton of experience with these wines, but this was very impressive. A huge amount of minerality and savory oceanic tones that drew me into the wine and had me wondering about the soils from which these vines are grown. The fruit was less exotic than my last bottle and spoke more in citrus tones that leaned towards bergamot, pink grapefruit, and sweet tangerines. There is a long and beautiful future ahead for this wine.

Fresh lime mixed with cured, salted lemons, waxy and minerally. Somehow along all that, this tastes just like a glass of fresh-pressed cider made from yellow apples. Delicate and lithe at one moment and oily and unctuous at the next, a touch of petrol and feral VA, honeyed yet chiseled with great brightness, very long. Complex, dazzling, unusual, a little scattered, undeniably delicious. If this is what natty wine tastes like, give me more!
My first Nikolaihof and wow, what a wild ride, awesome stuff, totally cross cutting, foremost like a Spatlese mixed with a Sancerre, mixed with a little Jura, and perhaps some Chenin Blanc thrown in for good measure!

Double decanted 30 minutes. An absolute and somewhat surprising delight! This wine has matured nicely - with a deeper gold color and richer texture than expected. Ripe peaches, tropical fruits, and even a bit of coconut on the nose. Nice lime mixed with ripe peaches on the palate with a touch of minerality and salinity. Very silken finish with abundant fruit and a nice level of acid. All the experienced tasters loved this wine - which may be approaching maturity. Sure wish I had more!!

This shows a touch more mature than I expected. Though in no way overly advanced. More color and honey notes than I would put on an eight yr old Riesling. Hints of diesel and minerals over honey tinged apples and lime. The palate is more forward with quince and apple. Some saline like notes and a tinge of pith like bitterness complicate this nicely. Given all that the just adequate acidity surprises me. Its not lifted or driven. It just gets to the finish and just sort of stops. Again, that's a minor complaint. This is a lovely, mature Riesling without that acidity. A terrific compliment to some spicy Szechuan noodles.

Very interesting nose indeed. Quite petrol dominated but also notes of nuts, honey oyster shell.
waxy in texture and very balanced. Long and still crispy finish
