Lovely nuanced aromatics with a hint of cinnamon over the floral notes. Fully resolved tannins and a silky texture with medium intensity and a lithe and lingering finish of ripe cherry and gentle acidity. Now at 12 years of age, absolutely ready to drink.

Pop/pour. Low expectations for this wine. Surprise, I actually kind of like it. On the nose, aromatic with a spicy wood, almost "oud lite". Reminds me a bit of the "scorched earth" note I found on South African wines when I was experimenting with those 10 years ago. On the palate, more of the same on a medium body with a nice, balanced acidic cut. Relative to my expectations, this outperformed tonight. This could be paired with something relatively full-flavored, as it's not a shrinking violet. Grilled pork (tenderloin) with a herbal prep comes to mind.
Update: later in the evening - this lightens up quite a bit. Loses the smokiness to a large degree. Becomes lighter, with a bit of stems. Slightly more astringent on mid-palate and finish. Preferred the early pop/pour rendition.

A pleasure to drink and first emptied bottle at a dinner party where halibut and shrimp were served. Time to drink up!

very nice. mellow with good balance and fruit. Best to pop and pour. A bit of drying tannin after a few hours; they were gone on day two though.
