  • Ever so slightly corked (the cork smelled just a bit) giving the wine a rough edge and diminishing the aromatics. So not rated.

  • 100% Garnatxa Blanca from 50 yo vineyards. Macerated with the skins for 36 hours. 13,5% alcohol.

Youthful, pale lime green color. Vibrant, sweet and fruit-driven nose with quite primary aromas of pear, apple gummi bears, some banana tones and a hint of honeydew melon. The wine is ripe, full-bodied and enjoyably balanced on the palate with quite intense flavors of pear, floral apple blossom tones, some tart green apples, a little bit of white peach, light steely mineral tones, a hint of herbal spice and a touch of exotic fruits. The high acidity makes the wine feel nicely structured and keeps it from coming across as flabby. The moderately long finish is crisp yet ripe and fruity with vibrant flavors of tart passion fruit, sweet peach, some sour apple candies, a little bit of herbal spice, light stony mineral tones, a hint of tangy salinity and a touch of exotic fruits.

A vibrant, very sophisticated and really drinkable Garnatxa Blanca that shows good ripeness and even some exotic fruit character, yet retains remarkable freshness and precision; really shows why Terra Alta is considered to be prime region especially for Garnatxa Blanca. Very tasty and attractive effort that is drinking really well this young, but might also benefit from a few years down in a cellar. Great stuff.
