  • Boston Wine & Poker, Brookline, NH: Tasted blind. No aroma. Pale yellow. Darren suggests that it tastes like guava. High acidity, light body, and some snap. It turns out to be the first release of the Aeris Etna. I had consumed one bottle from my own cellar that was quite oxidized, but it turns out that was a question of bottle variation -- this one still comes across as very young. Thanks to Kyle for this one.

  • Pop and poured. Tasted over three hours - first with food (jambalaya, in case you were wondering) and then on its own.
    Schott Zweisel stem.
Tasted at cellar temp and again when chilled.
    Straw color.
Nose offers ripe apples - reminds me of picking apples stepping on the soft drops on the ground.
A slight oxidative - sherry note.
Crisp intro with the dry sherry oxidized note lingering.
Green apple and hint of sea spray.

    An 'ok' wine.

  • Better closer to room temperature and with a little air. Lemon, lime, underripe stone fruit, a little petrol (yeah, this is sounding riesling-like), herbs, and earth on the nose. Lemon, saline, herbs, earth on the palate. Nice mouthwatering acidity, full-ish body, medium finish. Overall, a nice, crisp wine. I was hoping for a little more *something*, but I enjoyed it nevertheless.

  • Corked.

  • Some sherried notes on the nose obscure most everything else, though some faint green melon comes through. Light and bright on the palate and not obviously flawed there, but not very interesting. Subsequent vintages are much stronger.
