Winorama: A winter in Wineland III; 1/4/2019-1/13/2019 (Portland/Willamette, Eureka, Napa): SB seems to be on its way to being the white of the valley. I suppose that makes sense as the chardonnay versions tend to be a bit over the top and really quite different than their burgundy cousins. This is very much the honey and sweet and fruity version of SB. More of a mouthful in style. Lots of peach. There is a touch of crispness in the middle so the acidity isn't totally missing, but it's a wine that's built to be a touch heavier.

First stop on our fifth day in Napa Valley is Cardinale Winery. First wine is their Intrada, which is made up of 92% Sauvingon Blanc and 8% Semillon from Oak Knoll. The Sauvignon Blanc is aged for six months on the lees in a combination of 43% concrete egg, 27% new French oak, 18% stainless steel and 12% new French oak puncheon. The Semillon is aged for six months in 100% neutral French oak puncheons.
Light lemon yellow. Light to medium intensity with aromas of green apples, citrus, kiwi and white flowers. Medium plus acidity (7/10) with a medium body. Sweet attack on the palate with melon, citrus and some crisp minerality. Long finish. Drink till 2023.

Delicate, smooth… almost creamy. Delicious.
