Young BaBa 2014-2019 theme dinner at Duomo. My bottle. Drank in Conterno Sensory. Appearance is clear, pale intensity, ruby colour with thin garnet rim. Legs. Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of elegant decatying earth, minerals, fallen rose petals, classic red cherries. Developed. On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium+ alcohol (14%), fine integrating high tannins, medium+ body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of savoury earth, minerals, rose petals with cream, sweet balsamic, classic sour red cherries. Chewy medium+ finish. Very good quality. Tannins will outlast the fruit here though I think. Drinking in a good spot as good as it gets already for this vintage.

Bright red fruits and some mushrooms in the nose. The fruits are also dominating the palate, the mushroom less so. Lovely, clear presence of juicy acidity are hinting at a range of small, red fruits with a constant backdrop of minerals. Yes, there is a bit of eucalyptus that is enhancing the experience. Blood orange / mandarin towards the finish emphasise the complexity and if you give it some time, the smoothness stands out. Excellent. In my opinion this is as good as it gets with this 2014 vintage. No reason to give it any more years in the cellar.

Had this first after Cascina Fontana tour, July 2018 it was good at that time cherry, high tannin, developing nicely. Left remaining bottles for 2020. Pulled it out during Covid, to much expectation. The tannin mellowed, the flavor enhanced. Additional floral and spice notes. I don't have a cooler so my wines mature faster.
A bit underwhelming. Some herbs on the nose, menthol, orange peel, but not much. On the palate, tannic heavy and all I got was mint and menthol, nothing much else. 87-88/100 2014 was a bad year for Barolo and I can see why.
