100% Colombard which first undergoes 6 hrs of skin-contact, then a gentle pressing, ff'd by a cold temperature fermentation, & finally 3 mos of aging on the lees; 11.5% ABV, 6.13 g/L T.A., & 3.15 pH.

    [All notes from Day 2]

N: A melding of grn apples & grass, poss some tropical frts, with undertones of minerals

P: LM body; RNDISH entry with NICE, ALMOST swtish frt met by crips acidity which evolves into a LONG, TANGY/swt (65:35) finish with POSS a very, VERY slight bitterness. For now & through '20, poss ''21? My VG+, easily EXC- *if* the QPR of this vendor's $6.95 is taken into consideration. 87 pts & a "Best Buy" from WE @ $9, and 85, 86, & 88 from winealign.com .

  • Sat, 09/28/19, $2 Tasting (Vintage Wines Ltd., San Diego, CA): 100% Colombard which first undergoes 6 hrs of skin-contact, then a gentle pressing, ff'd by a cold temperature fermentation, & finally 3 mos of aging on the lees; 11.5% ABV, 6.13 g/L T.A., & 3.15 pH.

N: Grass with notes of cat pee atop minerals

P: Med, poss LM, body; Very RNDISH entry with NICE, ALMOST swtish frt (approaching threshold R.S.) counterbalanced by a crisp acidity which keeps things in check into the LONG, balanced finish with an alluring tangy/swtness. Equally adept for now & into '21 as quaff or with lighter fare. Tastes WELL above at least this vendor's price pt! My EXC-/EXC, the higher arguably for QPR. 87 pts & a "Best Buy" from WE @ $9, and 85, 86, & 88 from winealign.com . [This vendor's $6.95 is NOW an other worldly $6 < wine-searcher's only other source!]

  • Sat, 08/10/19, $2 Tasting (Vintage Wines Ltd., San Diego, CA): 100% Colombard which first undergoes 6 hrs of skin-contact, then a gentle pressing, ff'd by a cold temperature fermentation, & finally 3 mos of aging on the lees; 11.5% ABV, 6.13 g/L T.A., & 3.15 pH.

N: Fragrant, fresh cut grass, poss hay

P: LM, poss Med, body; RNDISH entry with NICE, ALMOST swtish frt nicely offset by an acidity which subtly directs the action into & through the LONG, tangy/swt finish. An *incredible* value for now & through '20! My EXC-/EXC, arguably the higher for the QPR of this vendor's $6.95, which in now a REMARKABLE $4 < the lower of wine-searcher's 2 postings! 87 pts & a "Best Buy" from WE @ $9, and 85, 86, & 88 from winealign.com

Note: Previously tasted on 5/26 & 9/15/2018. Also, held up MARVELOUSLY in a small tasting glass for ≈5 hrs!

  • What an interesting wine. 100% Colombard which seems to be made of the aromatic bouquet of an New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc, racing acidity of a cold climate Riesling and a finish resembling a gently spiced Gruener Veltliner from the Weinviertel. On the first day and I thought I would never be able to say that, the acidity is just overwhelming. It easily competes with CLR in it's efficacy and is just slightly higher priced with the advantage of being drinkable. Give it some air and everything start to settle down. The mid palate takes on more viscous elements and the lively character starts to fade. It's lacking complexity but who cares for Can$12 you are not expecting a whole lot and are in for an interesting ride.

  • Picked this up for $8.99 to use in a braise and drank the remainder. Perfectly pleasant fresh peach, lemon and wet stone aromas and flavors, with good tart acidity. Straightforward but tasty, clearly well made, and a good value.
