Community Tasting Notes (1)

  • Sat, 06/16/18, $2 Tasting (Vintage Wines Ltd., San Diego, CA): Typically, destemmed 95% Tempranillo, 3% Graciano, & 2% Garnacha from vines ave 25 yrs of age. "Aged in s/s with racking to another tank every 3 mos. No oak aging. The wines are bottled unfined and unfiltered."

N: RIPE, jammy, toasty (?) aromas with tough to parse aspects

P: LM body; Rndish entry with NICE, almost swtish frt met by puckerish astringency which loses the majority of its clout by the LONG, decently balanced, very, VERY slightly puckerish finish with hints of swtness to the very, VERY fine tannins. Deserves/NEEDS through mid '19, poss EARLY '20, then drinking for 4 yrs more? 13.5% ABV; My VG+, likely EXC- with a bit of age. 91 pts Tim Atkin, 90 Suckling, & 14.5/20 El Mundo Vino. [This vendor's $12.95 puts it @ the top of wine-searcher's 2nd quartile.]
