  • {screwcap, 14%} Mixture of chocolate, rubber, liquorice. Ripe, warm. Blackberry flavours too; the alcohol is present as heft rather than heat, the acid is discreetly low. Tannins are low/medium, dusty, not especially oaky. It's medium weight, very dry, nowhere near a fruit bomb, but the flavours can't quite match what does turn out to be warmth on the finish. Medium length, slightly patchy and unsatisfying finish. Look, it's OK, just don't expect something wonderful. Keep another five years if you want to; no harm will be done.

  • Really solid substantial wine. Excellent depth of flavor and structure, excellent balance of acid and alcohol. Not very complex at the moment but this might really shine at 10-12 yrs from the vintage. Great qpr.

  • {screwcap, 14%} Similar to 2019, on the whole. Perhaps a bit more chocolately, less peppery, with a mix of red and black fruit, lowish acidity and low dusty tannins. Little oak evident. A little bit warm and a little bit over-weight for the supporting structure. Doing its best to be savoury in style. Decent enough, not exciting, but OK for ~$20ish. Cellaring a few years won't hurt.

  • {screwcap, 14%} some plums, a bit of vanilla, some white pepper spice. Not especially intense for oz Shiraz. Quite youthful palate too, with dusty, savoury fruit, cranberries, plums, a light peppery quality. It has mediu:level but soft acid, low dusty tannins, not a lot of oak, and a low-key, somewhat short palate which actually has decent coverage of the tongue, but is just a bit simple and dilute at the moment. I think five years will help although it’s still a bit workaday in its overall impression.

  • {screwcap, 14%} Mulberry, brown leaves, a touch of earth. The palate has a central Victorian warmth to it, with earth, iron, rust. It’s medium-bodied, furry in texture with mild dusty tannins and some sharp acid, with a nod to volatility a bit. Minimal oak, savoury character, some warmth, bit of a whole on the mid-palate. Fair, doesn’t seem particularly special, maybe 5-8 years will help.
