Instant love for this wine. Require a strong resistance not to keep pouring another glass. Happy birthday Dad. 102 years old today I know you were a beer drinker but did enjoy a fortified and red occasionally (claret).

Elderton are a premium winery located pretty much right in the central Barossa Valley. I picked this one up during a visit to their cellar door I November last year. Average price range at $30 a bottle.
It's very much a typical Barossa Cabernet with pronounced red fruit and blackberry. It's a little sharp with some bitter dark chocolate too. Tannins are pronounced and they'll hang on to your tongue. Oak is noticeably absent.
This will be better tomorrow,so I have half the bottle to confirm my suspicions

Great example of new world Cabernet for an amazing value. Very fruity and concentrated but not over the top. Dark fruits are prominent on the nose and palate. Tannins are well balanced

A Cabernet of solid character and flavour. Plenty of cassis fruit mixes it up with tobacco and coal smoke. It has good depth and plenty of chew coming from dusty tannins.
