  • {screwcap,13.4%} Quite reticent and only partly developed. Fairly gentle nose, white pepper character, vague spearmint maybe? Quite lean palate, mostly cabernet it seems, with medium acid, low/medium gritty tannins, not much evident oak, and maybe more fumey heat than you'd expect for the ABV level. It's never green, but it's always tart and a touch astringent, even over a range of temperatures. Seems very shut-down for seven years old; maybe these V&A wines need twenty years to really sing (which none of them have yet in my experience!).

  • Deep ruby in colour, with a fresh and fragrant nose of black and red fruit. Medium full palate of ripe dark berry, vibrant fruitiness with little hints of black pepper and bay leaf. Smooth, velvety tannins brings a layer of intrigue and complexity. A long and elegant finish, this wine feels well balanced and is drinking well now.

  • CellarDoor TWE Tasting (Langham Hotel, Kent Street, Sydney): Blackcurrant and blackberry, slight tomato leaf, slightly meaty notes. Alcohol warmth lends this a bit of a cough medicine feel. Time may help but it’s not very pleasant currently.

  • I bought this because I like the Black Label Cabernet.
The wine seems very closed, needs a lot of breathing. Tasted better the next day. Still may shine after a few years in the cellar.

  • Plush red and black fruits on the nose, on the palate I also get a certain amount of sweet Moschino cherries and a little bubble gum as well, this is nearly Gamay in style, however there is a rich and full texture which brings you back to a more refined and elegant Cabernet, a little black pepper and black olive linger. This wine has a wonderful elegant finish, with refined structured tannin, this is ready to drink today, however can be enjoyed over the next 5-10 years. A Blend of 74% Cabernet Sauvignon and 26% Shiraz, co-fermented and aged in new and seasoned oak for 17 months.
