  • 55F since acquisition from winery - this GMS blend’s appearance is youthful brilliant deep red ruby remaining translucent in broad based Conterno Sensory. Fresh bouquet of red fruit melange jumps upon cork pull - nice - same with some anise and herbs in glass - lovely lively vibrant spiciness on palate - capsaicin pepperiness - really a live wire - so much stuffing there is no rush but the beauty of this beast is on full display now without hindrance of any sorts. Drink up for its vibrancy - if one or two get lost in the cellar and you don’t find them for a decade - no worries - tannins and acids aplenty - buy again absolutely no need to wait.

  • A nose of dark fruits and spice, dark purple in color. A full-bodied Rhone blend, with flavors of blueberry, black raspberry, and cassis, finishes with licorice and Asian spices. In a good drinking zone. Linne Calodo is a great place to visit if in the Central Coast area. www.winelx.com

  • This is in a good place now but has the goods to lay down for a few more years.

Opened and let breathe for a couple of hours before dinner.

Lots of fun on the nose: plum, leather, cola, herbs and a touch of floral notes. The Mrs proclaims there to be some viognier in the mix but it isn’t listed in the components.

On the palate the tannins make themselves known but are well integrated. Jammy fruit balanced with crispy acidity - in no way a fruit bomb. Plum, strawberry (slightly under ripe), and thyme and clove are among the many flavors stand out. Pleasing, but not as exciting as the nose would suggest.

Finish is fairly long but a bit one dimensional.

An enjoyable wine but not one I’ll be dreaming about tonight.
